Story behind the song
So I woke up at like 3 A.M. and couldn't sleep, so what's a guy to do but write a song called "Insomniac". Recorded on the Ipad, using the Caustic App for the basic tracks, imported the basic tracks into Garageband where I recorded the sax (Played on Roland Gr1 guitar synthesizer, which I also used to trigger all parts except the drums in Caustic using an Irig midi interface) and Guitar Solos. Here's where it gets fun and why I love working digitally: after listening to the final mix, I realize that one of the breathy synth layers is TOO breathy, to the point of sounding like noise. So I open the original file in Caustic, Edit the offending synth sound, Re-Import the Backing track file into garage band, delete the old version, keep the original synthesizer sax and guitar parts recorded into garage band and BAM, everything is in sync and the noise from the synth part is gone. Gotta love technology.
