Story behind the song
A collaboration with my old friend Scott Loveall on the lyrics. His original won a national lyric competition award in 1978. Just recently adapted it with a melody I wrote a few years ago.
Lyrics
Forecast Mostly Tears S. Domer, S. Loveall 2014 Morning skies are filled with misty rain Cloud my heart each day Since you left me there's been no sun Only hell to pay And I've heard that soon the clouds will thin 'Til then what can I do? The tears I cry are salt in my wounds And they sting with thoughts of you Forecast's reading mostly tears With scattered pain tonight Bloodshot eyes and an aching heart Is there an end in sight? Forecast, mostly tears The pressures falling so rapidly My head's starting to roar Though skies will clear, the sun will shine again Might take a year, maybe more The wind is howling through the trees Sometimes it speaks your name But the weather's just like our emotions It never stays the same Forecast's reading mostly tears With scattered pain tonight Bloodshot eyes and an aching heart Is there an end in sight? Forecast, mostly tears It might recover late next week I hear a warm front's passing through The low today was only minus one Last year it was minus twenty-two The Spring rains ended long ago Another Winter's drawing nigh All the seasons seem to blend as one Ever since you said good bye I hope I see you again someday And I wonder what I'll find Wonder if there can be a second chance For this broken man you left behind Forecast says clearing tears No chance of pain tonight No crying eyes or broken heart I know there's an end in sight Forecast clearing tears Forecast clearing tears Good bye tears So long tears
