I've been around music as long as I can remember. I was introduced to piano at age 5 but quit after constantly getting my hands whacked. (Somebody can relate!) My father always kept a guitar around the house but had it tuned to an open E chord. I later picked up the drums in 6th grade, then trumpet and bass in 7th & 8th grade. I quit music all through high school and didn't take interest again until after I entered the Air Force. In the AF, I started on bass then switched to guitar after getting married. I have since had the opportunity to play with a number of groups primarily doing R&B, Gospel and later Smooth Jazz. One of my most memorable moments was being selected in 1989 as the guitarist for the AF Tops in Blue entertainment overseas showcase. Through the various groups I've played with, I've had the opportunity to share the stage with gospel artists such as Kirk Franklin, Mississippi Mass Choir, Lee Williams and the Spiritual QCs, and Keith Pringle. I've played backup behind some of the most noted smooth jazz artists in the industry to include: Paul Brown, Everette Harp, Gerald Albright, Eric Marienthal, Jessy J, Steve Cole, Richard Elliott, Jackiem Joyner, Four80East, Will Donato, Althea Rene', Cindy Bradley, Vincent Ingala, Joseph Vincelli, Slim Man, Stacey Knights, Paula Atherton, Johnny Holliday & Lynn Riley. I am also the guitarist for a group called the "Azul Experience," comprised of four instrumentalists and five vocalist. We are all (prior & active) AF members who share the unique experience of performing with Tops in Blue. The band has been especially active backing noted jazz artists such as: Althea Rene', Tom Browne, Julian Vaughn, Steve Oliver, 3rd Force & Elizabeth Mis. We've even had the pleasure of opening for Brian Culbertson. I am also a songwriter, vocalist, arranger and producer. I've been married since 1978 to Joann (Christensen) and we have two wonderful kids, Chris II (an accomplished drummer) and Candice (Daddy's girl) and three awesome grandchildren; Ray-Ray, Cadence & Ci-Ci

Story behind the song
I came up with the arrangement one day during the invitation at our morning worship service. At that time, I would do it as a chord-melody arrangement. Over time it evolved to where our church does this before the Lord's Supper.
Lyrics
I must tell Jesus all of my trials; I cannot bear these burdens alone; In my distress He kindly will help me; He ever loves and cares for His own. Refrain I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! I cannot bear my burdens alone; I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.
