Story behind the song
The gigs at the lounge in New Orleans gave the band enough money for a multi-track recorder and a new midi guitar effect set. Everyone was excited to give the new equipment a workout, and Steven thought it would be great if we could let everyone have a spot in the new song for the demo. Carlos dug out his old organ and plugged in his new Yamaha keyboard to try out a few new voices he worked on. It took a lot of work and several adjustments to get everything to work clean. "Sassy" is Micheal's nick name for his younger sister. Sassy is a small woman like her mother but she has enough attitude to fill another body. She wants to be a rapper and Steven thought it would cool if we threw her into the mix to give the song some personality. In the end she gave the song so much personality they decided to name the song after her - "Sassy".
