Technically, this is not a Rag, though the rhythm is. Think of this as something Butch Thompson might perform on Prairie Home Companion radio show. The percussive piano backing also reminds me of Bob Bodet and the Motel 6 theme.

Many genres, Contemporary Christian, Lyrics, instrumentals
I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
This is a true story. It is really hard to get rid of an old, broken piano (see the Craigslist photo on the left. It seems to be funny now, though. I used and developed this song for lesson 5 in Coursera's free songwriting course with Pat Pattison.
Lyrics
Goodwill Rag Brother has to move, his piano has no room. Oh boy, I am not amused. Free storage- what a deal! Vladimir's my tuner, the soundboard is now doomed but - There's the chainsaw or bon-fire or the dump on the hill Chorus: Out of tune, old upright, stuck with this house guest, Out of sight, and long gone, then I will be glad Out of place, old antique, it may have played those Out of print notations like the Goodwill Rag It was made by Cramer from London, it is ancient It sailed to reach the states in eight-teen eighty-six I put an ad on Craig's List, for free, 'why don't they take this' There were callers, no haulers, but again, I persist (chorus) Just a decoration, beyond a restoration, In my exasperation - moved it out the door Then in my desperation, I called for a donation I arranged a hired trailer and the trip to the store.
