Story behind the song
So Down is my only political song. Maybe I should say my first since I don't know if I'll ever write another one. In general, it is not a genre that interests me. Who knows, though, I didn't think I would write a first one and here it is.
As with most liberals the 2004 election was a real shocker. After the 2000 election we felt justified in our anger; the election was stolen from us. But after 2004 there was a depressed resignation from the disbelief that Bush was not ejected from the white house. So Down tries to capture that feeling without being directly political or preachy.
