The songwriter is reminded of his lady love by looking up at the stars and remembering looking at them with her. It's a sappy love song but it's very pretty.
acoustic guitar
I'm a folky acoustic guitar player/singer. I thought this might be a good place to make some of my music available on the web.
Story behind the song
This was written by my buddy, Larry Shakley, when we were in high school in the 70's. Guitar arrangement was mostly by our mutual friend, Larry Robinson. Larry S. wrote this about some girl he was smitten by. He was kinda embarrassed about the song so he rarely played it. Somehow our mutual friend, Larry Robinson found out about it and got the other Larry to play it. He thought it was beautiful and did a guitar arrangement and played it often. I got it from Larry Robinson.
Lyrics
GLIMMER Larry Shakley
Do you remember all those silent summer nights
When the stars seemed so close that we could touch them?
Maybe it didn't seem so much then
But now it's so dear
And in my memory we would wonder through the fields
And you'd whisper softly that you'd always love me
I recall those summer skies above me
And I wish you were here
(Chor:)
And every glimmer in the sky reminds me
And every flying, falling star that finds me alone
Says I should be home with you
But now just like the stars that glimmer overhead
You've disappeared with the coming of the day
We both must leave our homes and go away
To start once again
So ‘til we meet again I’ll live on memories
For that’s all that I have while we’re apart
Until that day I’ll keep them in my heart
And I’ll be waiting ‘til then
(Chor.)
