Story behind the song
Tommy's life was just fine until he realized how complicated it had become with responsiblity and decisions within decisions. It seemed like every day his tranquility was disrupted with problems, like stones falling into a pond. He was helpless to do anything as the ripples grew more frequent and the stones grew larger with time. On the good days when everything was peaceful and still it was like time had stopped and everything was delicate and balanced. Those were the days Tommy treasured most as they were rare. It was good to keep the waters moving, but sometimes it seemed out of control. Tommy could feel the stress the ripples were causing on the shores, but it was nature taking course through his life. Tommy found Death was the hardest to contain. The waves washed so much away it changed the face of the shores forever. What could he do but endure and change? Not all change is good, but sometimes for the best.
