Story behind the song
I'm fed up with the so-called "prosperity gospel" and the "word of faith" movements and I needed to take a stand. As a songwriter, "taking a stand" means writing a song.
I'm a huge fan of Steve Taylor and his incredibly effective use of satire, so I'm "demonstrating the absurd by being absurd". I judge and condemn no one, but I've seen the damage these theologies cause to people who believe they can buy their way to prosperity and that they can speak health and prosperity in to existence. They are demonstrably wrong and for the glory of God they need to shown for what they are.
