folk tune - Gord's in town May 10th so its fan appreciation time
exploring the multiverses sound by sound and word by word
Story behind the song
story behind the song: read that Gordon Lightfoot is coming to town. started foolin' around on the guitar, got thinking roman history (one too many books, movies and/or documentaries or maybe just those Dr. Who episodes again). this is the result. if there is too much noise or the guitar is too out of tune for you, too bad lol. (and how did you spend your Saturday morning?)
Lyrics
i still feel every slash,
every point of disregard
every new puncture wound,
another bleeding gash
i still feel the warm blood
trickling down that other cheek
the one i turned in blindness
following orders so to speak
i remember blackness,
blood coloured in the dawn
fields of mud and warriors
retaliating in respect
i remember the visions
of before and after scenes
i didn't live through them
they must all be dreams
and now, on some deserted patrol
out here searching for some truth
and now, in some derelict post
i remember you
i still feel your softness
in that life so hard
your love like a blanket
over these wounds undressed
i remember your hope
i still feel your warmth
i remember dying
with your arrow through my heart
