Story behind the song
DON'T BLAME IT ON ME
This country song was written in 1965 when I was playing bass guitar with The Rhythm Ramblers here in Sarnia, Ontario.. I sang it quite often, so in 1970 when I formed my own band The Kountry Klassics I decided to record this song along with 12 others. We were playing at The Bridge Tavern in Point Edward at the time (not too far from Sarnia). We practiced a lot of the songs we were going to record, so in the summer of 1971 our recording was finished. The band members were Ray Frydrych (accordian) Brian Hill (drums) and I played the lead guitar and sang. These songs were all original, and I still sing them today. I am hoping you will listen to this song, and please tell me what you think. God bless you all.
Lyrics
I don't know why you treat me mean
And make me feel a fool
You try to tear my heart in two
By giving me the blame
But it was you who was to fault
For causing us to part
So don't put the blame on me
Don't even try to start
Don't blame it on me
I said, don't blame it on me
Yes, you're the fault of it all
So don't blame it on me
Don't forget the past
Of the love we once knew
I hope that you're sorry now
And rhe blame's all on you
You've hurt me so, deep down inside
I can't take much more
These miseries are haunting me
My heart is aching so
And if we must forget the past
Of the love we once knew
You must be fair, accept the blame
You know that this is true
Don't blame it on me
I said, don't blame it on me
Yes, you're the fault of it all
So don't blame it on me
Don't forget the past
Of the love we once knew
I hope that you're sorry now
And rhe blame's all on you
I hope that you're sorry now
And rhe blame's all on you
