Story behind the song
My friend Sammy Dixon was listening to one of my songs one night. He didn't get to comment on it! Serves him right, cause that night he had the wierdest dream about my song and a magical mallet. The mallet took him on a weird trip in space, and it controlled Earth! He also drempt that I had a daughter (I don't). So I wrote a song about his dream!
Lyrics
Sammy With The Coolest Dreams © December 23, 2013 Stan Loh Dedicated to Sammy Dixon who had the strangest dream after listening to one of my songs. Verse 1 Cm Hidden messages all over that old song, C7 C Felt he was there, but he really didn’t belong, F C He floated to a nearby summer travelling fair, F C An old bearded fortune-teller said son beware, Chorus C E It’s Sammy with the coolest dreams, C Ab Sammy makes the world go green, C G He can make the world spin round and round, F C In super-sound, super-bound! Verse 2 Cm In that old trunk, a mallet with some junk, C7 C Wooden mallet came with the habit of a monk, F C The stranger said it’s yours, all yours for fifty cents, F C But be careful son there’s power and great turbulence, Repeat Chorus Verse 3 Cm Sammy rides the clouds so happy to wonderland, C7 C His engine was the mallet leading from his hand, F C The wooden mallet slowly turned to gold and brass. F C And it’s flying so fast, Sammy jumped to upper class, Repeat Chorus Verse 4 Cm Magical mallet has a strong mind of its own, C7 C All of a sudden it banks and the whole world groans, F C Tilted left the true North soon became the South, F C Tilted right the grass grew tall in Sammy’s mouth! Repeat Chorus Verse 5 Cm That old song was written last night by his pal, C7 C Who had a princess who’d like to be his gal, F C She saved the world by holding on to Sammy’s hand, F C When he woke up she was playing in his band! Repeat Chorus
