Story behind the song
This song began as a post to my Facebook group, around Dec. 9, 2013. Post was titled "Where Do Musical Ideas Come From (part 3)". Here's the link to the group. You'll prob have to scroll down. https://www.facebook.com/groups/329028695413/ The intent was to show how names have rhythm, and can provide the basis for a song. In this case, the name was Barack Hussein Obama.
Lyrics
(v1 life ) Jesus spoke of the thief, that steals and kills so easily. Jesus said, "I am the antidote. I offer life generously." For the Christian that's Pentecost, when holy spirit was handed out. That replaced our 'victim status' with powerful spiritual clout. (c1 life ) The God of life is in me. The thief got robbed of another human. (v2 light) God lights up everything. The Bible is His biggest flood light, Catches the thief on your property, drives him back into the night. (c2 light) The God of light is in me. Helps me see darkness on the move. (BRIDGE) Whatever the thief stole from me, before I was born again, It was just him robbing a grave yard, grabbing stuff that'll burn in the end. But God Himself also removed some things from me. Part of His process of setting me free. One thing now gone ... 'uncertainty'. (v3 love) I don't try to hammer the gospel into everyone I meet But the gospel should cause a glow, that's evident when I speak. Love, joy, goodness, peace ... should all be at my core. Traits that can draw attention ... traits that can open a door. (c3 love) The God of love is in me. Helping those whom the thief has hit. The God of love is in me. Helping them rise from it.
