Story behind the song
Inspired by a song an old friend of mine wrote a long time ago.
Lyrics
She was, barely old enough to understand beauty/
She was caught up in it ever since she seen that movie/
With the girl her age, so pretty and loved by/
The city and adored by, boys, ignored by/
The girls cause of jealousy, now she was jealous/
She could look like that, if she didnt look like this/
She decided right there, that her life would change now/
Stole her moms make up to adjust her age now/
Just a phase now, her parents were convinced but/
They had no clue about the desperation/
She had to be perfect, no less would do/
She began eating less to suppress her mood/
Of depression, she was such a mess and soon/
She completely stopped eating, coz she was not meetin/
The goal of perfection she had settled on/
So she dyed her hair, red, brunette and blond/
She was brave but consumed, enslaved to her room/
Encaved in a tomb, like a grave I assume/
A shame to say shes too afraid of the tune/
That the public would play If she made the move/
Out the door, so, she just stayed in to prove/
To herself that it would be her fate to choose/
So dazed and confused, such a maze of views/
She would gaze at her face and just waste her youth/
The make up would take up most of her time/
She would wake up, late and just take her time/
She would miss the bus, stay home and just/
Keep staring at herself with both hatred and lust/
She loved what she could see but hated what she saw/
She could see every flaw so she stuffed her bra/
Extensions in her hair, high heels on her feet/
Wore expensive clothes but she feels so cheap/
Concealed so deep, so real, so weak/
She'll deal tho, heal tho and shield those secrets/
Feels so bleak its, a contant whirl wind/
Feels like the world is twirlin around her/
Thinks that everyone is focused on her looks/
So she feeds her ego, the girls around her/
Keep laughin, laughin, laughin louder/
She runs to her fortress, ugly and gorgeous/
