Acoustic based Christmas song, co-written and performed by Vance Grazio of Currier Square and Craig Whitson
Acoustic folk/folk-rock original singer-songwriters.
We are the remnants of a rock, turned folk turned folk-rock band (named "Open Road") that played together in the 70's and 80's. Today, Mark Porro and Vance Grazio continue writing and performing songs in the genre of those singer-songwriters who influenced us.
We, along with recently added bassist Mike LaPierre, have formed this performing and recording trio known as "Currier Square" (named after the childhood neighborhood of Mark and Vance).
We also collaborate with former bandmates and other musicians in these endeavors (Mark D. Hastings, Craig Whitson among others)
Story behind the song
A song about Christmas anticipation and love of family and friends as seen through the eyes of both the child and adult on Christmas Eve.
Lyrics
On This Christmas Eve
words and music by Vance Grazio and Craig Whitson c 2013
verse 1
Snowflakes falling, Christmas calling, a child on bended knee,
Looking for his name on presents underneath the tree,
As carols play, there's one more day, to see what Santa leaves,
Excitement and anticipation on this Christmas Eve
verse 2
Cookies baking, memory making, on this day each year,
Friends and family 'round the table, raise a glass of cheer,
Playing games, hugs exchanged, tales of old to weave,
Life and love are bound together, on this Christmas Eve
Chorus:
Yuletide snow, mistletoe, firelight, the manger glows,
Church bells ring, choirs sing, peace , goodwill to all
verse 3
My love keeps growing, overflowing, because you’re here with me,
You and I on Christmas Morning, the best gift there could be,
I feel just like that child again , kneeling at the tree,
With excitement and anticipation, on this Christmas Eve.
(repeat chorus)
coda
Life and love are bound together, on this Christmas Eve
