Story behind the song
We are living in a most negative world.
Lyrics
UNDER THE SUN We sit perplexed by purple thoughts, Magenta mountain majesties, Against-the-grain sinister plots, Self-administered travesties. Bubbling up come some crude black scenes Of wheeling, dealing politicians, Like some very well-oiled machines On dark search-and-destroy missions. From their lips spray Words hot and sweet; In their hearts, they Harbor deceit. They bask luxurious In their marble bath, But wealth is worthless In the day of wrath. There’s nothing new Under the sun. We just redo What has been done. Left-wing, right-wing, they all take flight, Casting shadows across the land, Bringing sadness, fear, and blight To the heart of the common man. Greasy palms meet greasy palms In good ol’ boy secret handshakes, Stirring up storms between the calms – Even calamity’s on the take. From their lips spray Words hot and sweet; In their hearts, they Harbor deceit. They bask luxurious In their marble bath, But wealth is worthless In the day of wrath. There’s nothing new Under the sun. We just redo What has been done. The White House takes on shades of gray, Shadows of its former glory. The new morality’s in play – A convincing cover story. The debt ceiling rises each day, Out of our reach, far above us. The more we pay, the more they pee away, This “incontinental” Congress. From their lips spray Words hot and sweet; In their hearts, they Harbor deceit. They bask luxurious In their marble bath, But wealth is worthless In the day of wrath. There’s nothing new Under the sun. We just redo What has been done. Copyright © 2013 Lex Zaleta
