I Play What I Say

This is my first funk offering. The (esoteric) things I talk about are, in fact, the same things I play and sing about. Put simply, I play what I say...ain't no lie.

All of the material is written, produced, mixed, and performed by one person...a lot of work, indeed! Pending on which instrument the song begins on typically shapes its outcome/genre. There is lots of variation here, by design. However, the future material will aim a bit more at the blues-rock stuff that gets me going...with a touch of keys. Truth be known, I started out on the organ/piano when I was young and enjoy sitting back and playing on the black and whites. However, the Strat and me have this thing about innovating over a funky bass.

Story behind the song
Whenever I jam with guitar players (in clubs, etc), I like to throw this bass line in. It always goes over well. So, I ultimately built a song around it. This offerings contains a big horn section, lotsa synths and some hip hop FX. Translation: it's very danceable! As I mentioned- above -I write/play/sing about my esoteric interests; bleeds into my music does it. So, I penned this one to capture this relationship. As some put their money where their mouth is, I play what I say....and I say what I play.
