Story behind the song
Good News was recorded in 2003/04 at a cottage near Dorset, Ontario as a part of pdq's debut album, Every New Place. The album includes the band's best compositions from over the last three years. “We’ve traveled in that time, changed, and matured. We do almost everything together and we accept and rise to new challenges as a unit. The title refers to a lyric in “Good News” which outlines the costs of seeking this opportunity. We have all sacrificed something to pursue this band, but also know that the sacrifices are worth the music,” says lead singer Jon.
Lyrics
Well I hate to say it and I won't forget it but I'm leaving this place too And though I fear for my life and I see the strife leads to strangers look back at you I'm so tired of burnin' and my shoulders are hurtin' from pulling this weight through So I'm packin' today grab my stuff from this fray and I'm going to some place new We'll I'd love to pick up and move to San Fransico you know I hear the sun shines almost everyday but like a flower child who shows up at the disco I know every place has it's share of pain It keeps me up at night And it's a shame that some have to beg while others choose But if I try with all my might Well I'm sure I'll find me a little piece of Good News So here we are at this dead end and there's no place I'd rather be instead With two clear minds we sit here in the cold hand in hand in hand we hold

I found their album 'Every New Place' on CD at a thrift shop in Toronto, and I looked them up, and this was the only thing I could find about them—pretty cool music.
