Story behind the song
Monsoon is a sharp, progressive, and introspective piece…it captures a mix of seemingly dark emotions with a simple metaphor and an addictive melody.
Lyrics
Part 1 - Monsoon…
Dark clouds in the sky,
Clouding my mind,
It's that time of the year,
When the sun won't shine
Silver lining where are thee,
Light of the day is out of sight;
Staring out of the window, it's too early to sleep,
Speaking in innuendo, hey Jade get me steep,
Some strings I need to untie, bittersweet lemon rind,
But before I get there, it's gonna be monsoon flash floods in my eyes.
Years have gone by,
With friends always by my side,
Time to shed my fears,
Tell me it's gonna be alright;
Difficult choices,
Caught between a rock and hard place is where I find myself
All the time;
Standing in pure darkness,
At first it took me a while,
To realize it was a tunnel with a beacon at the end shining it's light;
Calm after the storm,
Now there's nothing clouding my flight,
Lady luck looked at me and smiled and no more monsoon flash floods in my eyes.
Part 2 - A gathering storm
Second thought's a b*** ,
Speaking of which,
Have I made the right choice,
Under duress of kinds;
Are you an angel or are you a witch,
Vision impaired by a sty,
Need a fog light,
Cause there's still some drizzle in my eyes.
