Just how dark can darkness get
Before the worst is past
The real question isn't how dark it gets
But how long the darkness lasts
Light a candle in the Mission
Shine a lantern out to sea
Call upon the Sacred Heart of Jesus
But it still looks like darkness to me
If Satan gave me a thirty day vacation
With benefits and all insurance paid
I'd still choose the darkness any time
I'm not going to be afraid
I'm in a room that's big and empty
With no way out and no telephone
That's the way it's been for ages
People live and they die alone
