People Love Music. Sales of billions upon billions of music related items through the years give evidence to this. There are times when the love of music becomes a passion a determined dream transcending any other. Scott Mann, a singer/songwriter and acoustic musician from Fort Worth, Texas understands this drive. Scott’s determination to succeed in music was grafted into his family tree years ago. His grandmother and her family grew up during the depression years in a small north Texas town. The family of five children worked hard to get by and music was a major escape from the dark times. Scott’s grandmother inherited the old family piano. When he was small Scott was awed by his grandmother being able to make music with that big old black instrument. They sat for hours singing and playing old hymns. Scott’s grandmother died in 1990, but Scott did not forget the music. His senior year of high school Scott was the lead singer in a local band. During the next few years Scott performed in a couple of garage bands and released two independent CD’s. He Married, divorced and had a son. Music ministered to Scott through the heartbreak of his marriage ending. He says, “music became my therapya place to tell his hurt to.” Today, Scott is a solo artist. Musical peers refer to him as “the love song balladeer”, and his music is compared to the music of James Taylor, David Gray, and Chris Issack. Music critics describe his voice as, “the most soulful they have heard.” Scott has served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Songwriter’s Association for the past two years, and has also given over 100 performances. Recent performances include the Grapefest Wine and Music Festival in Grapevine, Texas, in September, 2003. In October 2002, Scott performed at the Fort Worth Fall Arts and Music Festival at Sundance Square in Fort Worth, Texas. In November of 2002 he performed at the North Texas New Music Festival in the Deep Ellum Arts District of Dallas, TX. In the spring of 2003 Scott toured California on the “acoustic road show”, in which he performed at over five locations in a week’s period of time across California and Nevada. What may be more important to Scott than even music is helping someone through addition, and he remains active in this pursuit. For him the true miracle is the lives his music touchesbe it one or millions. Scott Says, “Every time he plays he plays as if it were his last, because you never know when it might be.”

Story behind the song
I was in one of those financial places in my life and music career. So,to avoid getting myself emotionally down about it,i decided i would do what songwriters do best.Turn their life stories into a song. The bottom line is,I had to quit taking myself so darn seriously,so I wrote the unemployement blues...
Lyrics
The Unemployment Blues The songs I sing, they don’t pay no bills And the jobs that pay, they don’t give me thrills My mom says get to work, but that crazy women gives me chills. I got bill collectors calling; trying to collect their rent I don’t call them back because their money’s already spent. Someday I’ll pay them back because it’s money that I was lent. Chorus I’ve got the unemployment blues I’ve got the unemployment blues But I’ve Got my six string, a quarter brings and I aint got nothing to lose Repeat chorus I went to my PO Box to pick up my mail. I got a Traffic warrant and I may be going to jail. Well aint going to pay it those Cops can go to…..hell. I woke up this morning and now my transmission broke And I’m beginning to think that God’s trying to play a joke on me. I lost my job, now I am losing my sanity. CHORUS I’ve got the unemployment blues Got the unemployment blues Some day I’ll have a hit song Some day I’ll have a hit song Some day I’ll have a hit song And right now I’m paying my dues
