Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
Inspired by this quote: "No one can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices." Edward R. Murrow I'm pretty sure Murrow was talking about the Communist 'witch hunts' in the 1950's, and the fear those hunts were causing too many Americans. But there's a spiritual application, as well. Next to death, the devil's main weapon is fear. He has filled the world with thousands of fearful things. Everyone on the planet can find ample and specific things to fear. When we let any fear take root in our thinking, we become, without even meaning to, accomplices of the devil. This song is a bold declaration of 100% trust in God, and the mental discipline involved in that.
Lyrics
(v1) What's that, Lucifer? You want us to fear? At least one device that you've planted here? We can pick our poison Any fear will do Where we doubt God and listen to you. But here's the thing ... (CHORUS 1) You got no cooperation from Jesus. You'll get no cooperation from me. (v2) What's that, Lucifer? You want us afraid In this house of horrors you've made? Floods? Bigotry? Cancer? Poverty? Radicals with explosives? Shaky economy? But here's the thing ... (CHORUS 1) (v3) I'll cooperate with God, not some god-wannabe. I'll cooperate with Christ, not some reject from eternity. So, Lucifer, get lost with your assortment of fears, And let these words ring in your ears. (CHORUS 1) Yeah, beat it. I've got someone better to talk to. (v4) Lord God, what an offer you've made to man, A reason he should master his attention span, And keep his thoughts where You keep yours And not wander back through those dark doors. Trusting You replaces all fear. That makes living much simpler here. (CHORUS 2) You got full cooperation from Jesus. You'll get full cooperation from me.
