This song of love and the recapturing of youthful passion starts as a rough guitar piece then goes all lush orchestral.

Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
This started literally with a cold night in November (in the Indian Himalayan foothills at Ranikhet) and became a musing on the passing of time and the recapturing of youth's passion... So it starts as a rough guitar piece then goes all lush orchestral. If I had a vast music video budget it would be B&W at the start and then slip into a full colour Disneyfied dream sequence... (dream on! but I might have a go at some point, in my usual yogurt pot and string way...)
Lyrics
intro: C G Am Em F C F C It’s a cold night in November, F C With the sun long-slipped behind the hills Em Am Time to stir life in the embers D G Breathe warmth back through the autumn chills Em Am You can’t count the seconds to that midnight hour Em Am And watch your life slipping away F So when the double bed beckons C Am D G I can still reckon on a night like yesterday F Was it so long ago I first held you C Gsus4 Am And your body trembled at my touch F C Am All of that passion could not be contained G And I knew that you wanted me oh so much Now it’s a cold night in November, With the moon rising over the trees Is it so hard to remember Or are you just being a tease So lets cosy up under the covers Not giving a thought to the time And let the dawn discover We wake as young lovers G G6run C Again as we were in our prime
