I've been making music using the name Exalted Dirt since the late '90s. Friends compared early Exalted Dirt Recordings to Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Story behind the song
This was originally a remix composition for IndabaMusic.com. The song was called "How Long?", and it was by How to Destroy Angels (a Trent Reznor brainchild). HTDA's version stuck to a normal Bm (Reznor called it D), but I shifted it into B major Phrygian, having to mix in the minor Phrygian a little because of the harmonic layering in the background vocal track. So the scale was defined as follows: B C _ (D) D# E _ F# G _ A _ B Everything about my rendition stood alone from the vocals very well, and since I departed from the original chord progressions all the way through, I simply added in some soft guitar leads and made the composition my own. I asked the Lord Jesus what I should call it. Thoughts about hourglasses and sand went through my mind, based on the title of the HTDA song, but nothing I thought of sounded right to me. I wanted to convey the notion of waiting, but with an element of hope as well. As I was listening to it during the final mixing process, I drifted off to sleep shortly and saw a vision of a faded trail on a cliff overlooking a desert horizon. It was easy to find my title then: I initially called it "Gazing Over the Horizon", but then I changed it to "Just Over the Horizon".
