Hi Folks, The Bard Insurgent here. My comrade D.O. (the Poet Roofer) and I got that handle (The Bard Insurgents) from traveling town to town performing songs and poetry about people's lives. I've been performing since I was 3 years old, cutting my vocal chords on liturgical and classical music. I was a concert soloist as a child, when I wasn't herding cows, throwing hay and shoveling manure. During the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam war, I began writing songs about social change. I left the country in 1970 and my dozen years in other countries, mostly in Africa & South America, have provided a global perspective to my music. My travels helped me realize that people all around the world are essentially the same in their basic life needs and their desires to live peacefully in their communities. These experiences have informed my commitment to working for international understanding as I organize at home. A powerful way to educate and inspire is with music. I tell people's stories, do social commentary with a touch of satire that I hope you enjoy and share with your friends, as well as sing together in the streets and in your living rooms. I also have children's music written for the children in my life with Jacob and Kayla as primary muses. Looking forward to seeing you on the road, Tom

Story behind the song
So many pharmaceuticals are flushed & voided down toilets that anti-depressants are present in water analysis. This must be the reason that US citizens display little interest in losing civil liberties, GMO food, drones, Wall Street elections...
Lyrics
The 21st century is filled with anxiety Tarsands & war, fracking, the poor And plastic has filled up the sea. To keep everyone calm & mellow ---A neurological plateau fellow pu With Prozac in our water Ignore waste and slaughter Comply in our complacency It must be the Prozac in you. To vote for the Wall St crew Your rights Obama’s taking With laws they are making It must be the Prozac in you. Obama takes away civil liberty While you watch reality tv Why do you take such a screwin Is it the Prozac you’re doin? This Prozac goes to your brain Chills you out so you don’t complain - Critical thought is at level zero - Why Bradley Manning’s in jail, not a hero It must be the Prozac in you. To vote for the Wall St crew Year after year, it’s perfectly clear It must be the Prozac in you. When it’s time for electioneering Other candidates all disappearing - Arrest and censor the opposition Cause they have a contrary position Jill and Cheri are shackled to chairs While Obama bails out billionaires And his drones fly through the air It must be the Prozac in you One would think we would be a bit curious If not outrageously furious At the frankenfood on our plate Obama’s list to assassinate Torture, tasing, and pepper sprayin All barbaric behavior, just sayin pu And methane gas is ok in your glass It must be the Prozac you do. It must be the water you’re drinking That lets Wall St do your thinking - You say you’re 99 percentile But you vote for the 1% while - we pay a war machine several trillions To go & kill several millions - So CEOs can make several billions It must be the Prozac in you. It must be the Prozac in you To vote for the Wall St crew Their union bustin; there’s nothing for trustin Year after year it’s perfectly clear It must be the Prozac in you.
