Story behind the song
The two seconds of David Di Pietro (or his friend?) singing "...empty shell of me" was cut out from this conversation and e-mailed to him so that he might explain why he was singing it. The two second recording was the only audio sent to him. He was only asked one question, one time. His explanation was "Do not contact me..." This is a strange reaction from someone who is asked one question one time from one person, especially when this one question is about two seconds of audio. He was never even sent the full conversation nor was he asked about it. He was never sent or asked about any of the other recordings (hours and hours of them) that he and his friends made and uploaded. He was only asked if a two second recording was of his singing voice and his response was cowardly and controlling because he knows how and why he was singing the song and he knows that the contents of this full tape and many, many others implicate him in other despicable and illegal behavior. Some of his his former classmates and his current friends know about this. Ask them - ask every single one of them - though they, too, have much to hide. Matt Gaetz
Lyrics
"And kept an empty shell of me." He means to be singing "And left and empty shell of me" Compared to everything else he got wrong, that's minor. He is only busy having a conversation about what he heard in the car the evening before, while he was somewhere around Fort Lauderdale, and the girl he was obsessed with was somewhere around Miami Beach playing this one lyric over and over again while she was completely alone in a car, driving on the highway, with the doors and windows to the car shut and no phone on at all.
