Eclectic mix of blues, folk and rock with soulful vocals.
I don't really have a regular band as I play in several different musical configurations. I do a lot of solo and duo work although sometimes I do perform with a four piece band, performing as much as my own material as I can. I play piano and guitar and do all of the lead vocals. I am also learning how to play accordian! My voice is my primary instrument. I have been playing "professionaly" since I was 17 which I think means I have been performing more than half of my life now!!

Story behind the song
I wrote this song after visiting Seattle in November...the trees still held some of their color and I loved all the water. Took a ferry to Bainbridge Island and it was beautiful. After I got home, this song unfolding, morphing into some words of advice to my youngest daughter, Rachel, who was eighteen at the time.
Lyrics
WESTERN SHORE Words and Music by Susan Clark (Chorus) (Chorus repeats after each verse) I have always been drawn to the western shore I have always been held prisoner by the rain There’s somethin’ about these trees Holds me like a lost lovers’ embrace And in the distance I can hear the ocean call my name Don’t be afraid to change It’s the nature of the game To move ahead now and again without ever knowing why Don’t be afraid to ask for help With the things you don’t understand There’s always someone ahead of you Who holds the answers you need in their hand We’re taught from a very young age To make our decisions with our heads When it’s really that feeling you get Right here in the middle of your chest That tells you whether it is time For you to stay or move ahead Don’t be afraid of those feelings my child ‘Cause they’re all we ever really have Life on this plane is so short and fast Nothing like what lies ahead Everything you think you’ve learned Will be forgotten with the shifting sands So if you feel me flying through the air Won’t you reach out for my hand And hold tight as we journey on To discover a brave new land
