Story behind the song
I was living in Big Sur, Calif at the time. Nepenthe means a potion to forget sorrow. It was the name of a local landmark and restaurant, unusual because it was a tourist attraction as well as a hangout for hippies.
Lyrics
I had a dream the other night Dreamed about a bird in flight Sunken ships in blue lagoons Treasure chests, crescent moons Rolling waves turquoise days A cloudy sky I heard them say Fore and aft and to and fro On we sailed high and low Along the coast upon the ridge Grasses grow beside the bridge Ragged Point and salty air Someday soon I'll take you there
