Story behind the song
Piece in 17-tone equal temperament for two retuned pianos, harmonica, and percussion, written for the 2012/2013 60x60 Untwelve contest, which required microtonal compositions at most 60 seconds long. (Was not selected, though.) 17-equal is a tuning that can be used to approximate oriental maqam scales, and a few of these (Bayati, Rast) appear in in the piece, combined with counterpoint lines, using a proprietary set of counterpoint rules for 17-equal developed by the author.
