My Mom went to the store
And she never came back home
I was scared to death
And I was all alone
I just couldn’t understand
Why she hadn’t come back home
Something was wrong
And I waited by the phone
So I got into my bed
Pulled the sheets up real tight
Didn’t know what to do
It was a horrible night
Please pick me
I need a new Mom and Dad
I’ll be a good boy
I promise I won’t be bad
Please pick me
Because I am all alone
I won’t bother you
Just need a loving home
Just then the doorbell rang
And I opened up the door
I could hardly breathe
Hope my Mom’s back from the store
There were flashing red lights
And two Policemen at the door
They were looking down at me
With a sad stare
Are you Johnnie Jones
And is your Mom’s name Jane
She had an accident
While driving down on Main
(Repeat Chorus)
My Dad had left us both
When Mom brought me home
He never called or wrote
Left us all alone
It was just me and my Mom
She was always there for me
We helped each other
Figured that would always be
But on one awful night
My world turned upside down
I had no one to love me
Felt like I would drown
( Repeat Chorus)
They came to look at me
But I could see it in their eyes
I was too old to be adopted
Not the right size
I tried to be noticed
Combed my hair and stood up tall
It didn’t seem to matter
Not at all
So I’d given up all hope
Of finding a new home
Just resigned to be staying there
I’m out here all alone
(Repeat Chorus)
