The purple jacaranda,
Stands so proud in the sun,
Its long arms welcome the clear blue skies,
It’s so precious for you and I,
The day when our son was born,
That sapling, your mother’s gift,
With a prayer we planted this precious tree,
By the window so we could see …
When it grew like our son,
We marked a notch for each month …
Of happiness,
When our son learned to climb,
We took a bough and some vine,
For a fortress and bench,
And soon jacaranda was happy to give us a table,
To enable,
Our family affair,
Tomorrow twenty years would have passed by its flowers,
Purple showers 
For a bouquet on his wedding day.
