Story behind the song
This is from a poem I wrote several years ago. It was inspired by a dream I had as a young child.
Lyrics
Mr. Fancy Fiddle Dances about his universe In search of tunes to play To lighten up the grey Little does he know He cannot chase the clouds away By fiddling and muse In times when stars refuse To shine and light the night He looks around and weeps All the stars have gone to sleep All the stars have gone to sleep When he was small He crawled through the wall And hid among the pipes So he wouldn't see His mommies face When she turned out the light He couldn't see his mommies face When held within her cold embrace And promises she wouldn't keep For all the stars had gone to sleep All the stars had gone to sleep Falling down within the wall He landed in the sterile hallway Brightly lit Brightly white A clown inside a fancy kiosk Was handing out colored dreams To take away the medicine The bitter taste of screams The boy looked down the shiny aisle And saw a boy who couldn't smile For he was just a skeleton A cold white nurse Accompanied him He wished to give the boy a toy Something nothing could destroy But then awakened In wet sheets And all the stars had gone to sleep
