Story behind the song
I woke up one morning after a night of partying in college. I vaguely recalled writing lyrics, so I looked on the table and found a ridiculous verse of rap-ish lyrics.
I decided to write a rap/song around this rap that I had written, keeping it exactly the same (the drunken rap is the last verse of the song "Allright, here it goes ... and that's all she wrote"
This was originally entirely piano and vocals, but I was experimenting with GarageBand and this remix arose.
Lyrics
Day to day, on display
I don't plan to pay for my pride to decay.
Petty people perish and their pulse pulls away,
Positively puzzled in a "well-mannered" way
By the way, I'm on the way
A palatable puppet pounds your bones to puree
With a paramount potential; pen and piano lead to pay
A paradoxical paradise is what I will portray
Purge me of these parasites, I'm panicked and I'm pained
No paranoia parallel to thoughts I entertain:
Keep it off, sleep it off, take it off, break it off,
Turn it off, burn it off, learn so you can earn enough!
Pummel through the puddles if you're puzzled or befuddled
Or your troubles have you muddled, peace is palpable, I promise
A painful panoramic, I possess potential panic
Part is pure and part is manic, part pathetic and part pompous
Part jaded, part elated, pardon me, party girl
Different flavored party favors, people punchin' at my pearl,
Please, won't you please, take it easy, appease me
Won't dress for you, test for you, I will not invest for you
For you are too nervous, I'm not certain of your purpose
You seem settled on the surface but you're meddled in your service
I won't do whatever you decide
I'm through with norms, their parasites
I swear if there's a camera in sight
I'll probably turn to my characters...
Directors, please won't you please cast me?
As long as you don't ever ask me...
To deal with my addictions, cause I bask in my afflictions, yes I do
You won't impel me, I don't do well with contradictions
I'm just swell in my convictions, you can stick to your own views!
Just like Glue.
Their pointin' at me: "Boy, you see that lesbian?
I'm certain she's a thespian, lez be honest",
So I whip out 'Ole Shakespeare's sonnets, paying homage
A genius of rhyme, between us is time
Conveniently written; I'm smitten, yes I'm
Connecting with his speeches and objecting to the creatures
Who believe his work is boring. It's alluring, and fantastic.
But still, they're pointing at me,
"Boy, you see that lesbian? I'm certain she's a thespian,
Lez-be-honest. Wonder if she's into bondage,
Creepy toys in a creepy cottage, payin' Kate and Regina homage,
Strike me as likely to be super potheads,
Swearin' off that, 'stupid sausage'!
So, I respond,
"Guys, come on, really?"
High off their asses, brains in the ceiling
,Feeling erotic, hypnotic lesbian powers,
Endlessly; hours telling them,
"It's not like that, really, you feel me?"
Then I say, "Whatever!" cause it's my endeavor.
Let's tether together as long as you don't ever
Tell me to deal with my addictions
Cause I bask in my afflictions, yes I do.
You won't impel me, I don't do well with contradictions
I'm just swell in my convictions,
You can stick to your own views just like Glue.
Allright, here it goes, get cozy, who knows if,
I'mma be here a while. Suppose if
I'm in a rap-tap-tap mood; lewd,
But shrewd enough to make you go wild.
Never short of breath, I can keep it going,
Tappin' it to death, like a secret flowin'
Any kind of weather, whatever, we get hurt,
Together, it all works, trust me I'm an expert,
Walked away from wrecks, dirty deals, dirty sex,
Direct, but so complex, in my lab like Dexter.
Not what you expect, any sec what the heck
I'm bound to hit the deck and a furious texter,
Cookin', not lookin', got a phone in my hand
And a chicken bone in the other,
Don't do what's planned-
So if you got a calendar you better take cover!
Cause, when you think I'm here then I'm there then I'm back here
Baby, maybe I'm your girl,
The way we daily rule the world,
I'mma be the one's gonna make you 'Erl'
I don't really know what that means, no I don't
Cause I heard it in my teens and I guess I took note
Now I'm hangin' with the queens, and that's all she wrote
As long as you promise you will not,
Tell me to deal with my addictions, cause I bask in my afflictions,
Yes I do (yes I do!)
You won't impel me-I don't do well with contradictions,
I'm just swell in my
