This song is a poem; Emblems of Calvary, that I wrote in 1980, and just recently I composed the music for the poem to turn it into a song. The greatest story ever told put to music; the story of the cross where Jesus died to redeem us from sin.

Story behind the song
One Sunday morning in Church in 1980, I drew a picture of a cross, crown of thorns, a spear, a spike and a cat of nine tails with a blue ball point pen on a green piece of construction paper, which I borrowed from a little boy who sat on the bench in front of me. I drew exactly what God gave me to draw, which He showed in a vision as if there was a movie screen in front of me with this image for me to draw from. I give God and His Son Jesus all of the praise.
Lyrics
Emblems of Calvary
To the whipping post Jesus was tied,
The cat came from hell,
Thirty nine times He was scourged,
By the cat, the cat of nine tails.
A crown of thorns was fashioned,
Upon His brow it was placed,
The thorns cut deep into His brow,
And the blood ran down His face.
The rough made cross was heavy,
The splinters cut and gouged,
He was cursed and spat upon,
As He was led through the crowd.
Two spikes of steel were driven
Through a gentle carpenters hands,
A third spike through His feet,
Then the cross was raised to stand.
His blood drained slowly from Him,
"It is finished", Jesus cried!
The soldier cut Him with the spear,
Blood and water poured from His side.
In three days He arose
He conquered death, the grave and hell,
No longer was He a victim of the cross,
The thorns, the nails, the spear or the cat of nine tails.
