Story behind the song
Title and idea came form a phrase from Mike's grandfather, about people hiding their feelings and how they can come to the front while drinking...... We took the stor of how he heard this when he was a little boy, but never really understood the meaning until he grew up and became a bar tender. He then heard all sorts of stories when people drank.
Lyrics
” A Drinking Man’s Talk 1) I remember when I was a little boy Something my Grandpa said Didn't mean much to me back then But I kept it in my head Now thirty years later here I stand Tending bar and lending my ear To alotta lonely people with a drink in their hand Now my Grandpa's words ring clear Sometimes a drinking man's talk is a sober man's thoughts… 2) Ain't it funny how we think we know someone By the image they portray Only to find them out of control Drowning their sorrows away The heart can't hide what they're feeling inside Everything they've tried to conceal Pouring out freely as a bottle of wine With problems only Jesus can heal (Refrain) Sometimes a drinking man’s talk is a sober man’s thoughts Another story with every round You wouldn't believe the things I hear them say As the walls come tumbling down They start drinking - do a little thinking Then without thinking at all Can't look me “straight” in the eye without telling a lie But blinded by a bottle, they stumble and fall (SPOKEN).. Well, we all have our demons - things we'd rather hide We tend to keep 'em to ourselves - be it fear or maybe pride But you know, from where I stand – Everything I've seen and heard Alotta truth lies in between - a troubled soul and Grandpa's words Tag: Sometimes a drinking man's talk is sober man's thoughts
