Story behind the song
Started with the hook and have written 2 versions. The 1st one is almost a "musical" with many changing scenes and lines of what she wants in a man and what she doesn't want and then she heads out with her friends to find one. in this version she simply heads to the rodeo and zeros in on her man. He's the one that lasted the longest on Old Gore...
Lyrics
Catch Me A Cowboy
Well it’s been a long time the boys are finally here
They’re in town for the money, the bulls, the broncs and the steer
But I’ve got a plan to find me a man and rock his rodeo
You can bet your boots this filly is a rarin’ to go
I’m gonna Catch Me A Cowboy
I’m gonna Catch Me A Cowboy
Tie him up and put him down
When I get to the stands it’s a scene from the wild, wild West
Dudes are ropin’ and ridin’ lookin’ fine in their leather vests
But one’s lookin’ mean in his tight blue jeans gettin’ ready to ride “Old Gore”
If he lasts eight seconds he’s the one that I’ll be gunnin’ for
I’m gonna Catch Me A Cowboy
I’m gonna Catch Me A Cowboy
Tie him up and put him down
Well he’s holdin’ that trophy at the bar with his friends that night
I walk up and tell him Old Gore gave him one hell of a fight
But if you’d like to see somethin’ more ornery then any bull could ever be
Honey take my hand and take a little walk with me
I’ve got him locked in a kiss
He’s not tryin’ to resist
This boy’s been flipped, roped and tied
Now I’m satisfied
Yeh I Caught Me A Cowboy
I done Caught Me A Cowboy
Tied him up and put him down
Didn’t even make a sound
Doesn’t want to leave this town
