Story behind the song
April is a baseball loving person who cowrites with me from time to time. She said lets write a baseball song, and here it is. This is a song of a REAL True to Life baseball enthusiast! I made up the name of the character in this song; but believe me ... the REAL Annie Fanny is what I based this song story about. I don't think for one minute that she had any idea that I would nail down her character as well as I did in this story; but when she read the final revision she said ... "It's Perfect! Don't change a thing! ... now ... get it recorded!" It was a true joy to be able to write this with her and if you haven't already figured it out ... well, Annie Fanny helped me Co-Write this song. She was too modest to say the things that were said in this song but I wasn't. There's not a modest bone in my body when I'm consumed in writing a song. She says she loves it and I love the fact that she does. I'm proud of you Girl! You Go Get 'em!
Lyrics
Annie Fanny 2-9-2013 © Rick Terry and April Whitzman Annie Fanny’s the very best baseball Fan; she’s always on the run Every single minute of every game there’s so much to be done Crunching all the numbers from the baseball games, she has so much to say She’s the Number one girl in the whole wide world, for Toronto “Blue Jays” Annie has a lover who is like no other, but she has no time for love She’s busy loving Baseball day and night with the Sun and Moon above She gets so out of reason, when baseball’s out of season, she prays for an early spring She misses the feel of the stadium, and the thrill the game can bring Chorus (”A”) Her life is all about baseball, the game consumes her senses The crack of the bat across the plate sends another one for the fences Oh, Little Annie Fanny has a baseball spirit of pure Electricity She’s been bitten by the Baseball Bug and there’s no cure you see -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She knows every Minor and Major league player, and she calls each one by name When there’s any play to cover, I’m sure you will discover, she’s at top of her game She can tell what the next pitch will be, before it leaves the pitcher’s hand Can’t say how she does it but she sure knows, when it’s bound for the Promised Land - - Instrumental Break - - Oh, Little Annie Fanny sits in the stands, watching every play Her Blue-Jays are down in the top of the Ninth and there’s rain across the way But win or lose she’ll always choose to stick by the Blue-Jays team To see the “Boys in Blue” win it all . . . would surely be her dream Bridge She closes her eyes for only a moment and sees herself running the bases Turning up the speed and sliding home . . . puts a big smile on her face…yeah . . . Chorus (”B”) Her life is all about baseball, she never wants the day to end She feels at home in the SkyDome and baseball’s her . . . Next of Kin Oh, Little Annie Fanny has a baseball spirit of pure Electricity She’s been bitten by the Baseball Bug and there’s no cure you see -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the “Boys in Blue” to win it all . . . would surely be her dream
