Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. Story behind the song
This was one of the last songs I wrote in my ‘early period’ and I certainly never played it anywhere. I jazzed up a version of it for 'Back on the Cam' ...but I'd totally forgotten this version recorded in Archway with Roger Brawn, Steve Franks and Roger Wagner. Lyrics
I’ve been thinking… are the chains between us linking No pretending … seems our lines of life are blending I… I’d like to try And I can see that twinkle in your eye I… I want you back girl I’m tired of waiting.. sitting here just contemplating On what got between us.. those happy people could have been us I… I’d like to try And I can see that twinkle in your eye I… I want you back girl Those eyes shining like rainbows In my mind when I’m alone Time flies but something inside grows Don’t it feel like home Oh I.. I want you back girl
