Whatever Happened To The Band
Comment Share
A songwriting exercise. Start with the phrase "whatever happened to?" SSG Y11W6 I revised some of the lyrics since I first posted this. I've added "bass guitar," which is just me playing on the low strings of an electric guitar.

Story behind the song
Kind of a history of my experience in a band, but I also added some things that other people mentioned on a forum.
Lyrics
intro: Whatever happened to the band? Things didn't turn out like we planned. verse: The band used to play for local clubs. Not the cool ones that we all loved. Evening meetings with cookies and coffee. Real gigs were a fantasy. verse: We used to practice in someone's garage. 'Til his Dad started restoring the Dodge We met up wherever we could, Annoying people in the neighborhood. chorus 1: Whatever happened to the band? Things didn't turn out like we planned. We never found our fortune and fame. We kept playing just the same. verse: Musical talent can't be bought. It was more work than we thought. Some of our friends didn't get along When they came to hear their favorite songs. chorus 1 verse: I wanted to share the songs that I wrote. The audience liked covers note for note. Egos started to get in the way. Our style changed from day to day. chorus 1 verse: The guy with the sound gear pulled the plug. His life turned from music to drugs. You know we only kept him around Because we needed those rock 'n' roll sounds. chorus 1 verse: Our day jobs take up all our time. We're all well past our prime. Now our lives are normal and bland, Wondering what happened to the band. chorus 2: Whatever happened to the band? Things didn't turn out like we planned. We never found our fortune and fame. But we'd do it all over again.
