09 These Old Worn Out Shoes.mp3
Another song written for the ladies. Many times a person stays in a relationship when reason and logic would not justify. Love is strong and sometimes is the strength a person needs to carry on.
The Texas Eagle Dirt Band is a pure country music band keeping with tradition. We have a bluegrass flavor that creates the energy and style. Our presentation
Story behind the song
Paula writes songs from her heart and through personal experience. A great songwriter is the person who is willing to bear their soul and courageous enough to let the listener look through the window of that soul. We poke fun at Royce, Paula's husband, for inspiring this song, but there is probably good reason. Paula and Royce are both strong and their love is stronger.
Lyrics
I found myself standing in an old pair of shoes
Beaten and ragged and worn.
They’ve walked me through some good times, even through some bad times.
But, this time they ain’t walkin’ through the storm.
Though the clouds of desperation keep building overhead
The skies are grey it looks like it could rain.
These old worn out shoes ain’t walkin’ through the rain anymore
And I hope they’ll weather one more storm again.
It’s not the thunder or the lightnin’ that makes me so afraid,
Or the wind and rain that chills me through and through.
It’s these worn out shoes I’m wearin’, from this heavy heart I’m carryin’.
And the storm I’m tired of walkin’ through is you.
There used to be a sunshine to chase the clouds away
Back when these old shoes were like brand new
And I remember runnin’ and chasin’ a rainbow
‘cause the gold I knew I’d find there would be you.
But, now there’s no more sunshine and rainbows fade away,
And the hush before the storm has filled the air
These old worn out shoes ain’t walkin’ through the rain anymore
I think its time I got a brand new pair.
