Story behind the song
This song is about our cousin, Sid, who was a rodeo cowboy early in his life. His childhood sweetheart had an undying love for him. He took that love for granted. One day he discovered she had breast cancer and knew that he might have to continue his life without her. He desperately tried to find a cure and throught that search finally discovered the love that was deep within his soul.
Lyrics
More country than the dirt, at the foot of Sid’s Mountain He ain’t sane, but he never claimed to be. The eyes of admiration of rogues and rank strangers, See only what he wants them to see. Rugged and rough, rowdy and tough, Reserved, conditioned and controlled. The image he projects is what he expects, Of a man with a mountain full of gold. In the caverns of his mind, the lady dances all the time. He’s possessed by the vision that he holds. Her passion is protected by a mountain so majectic, It covers a beauty to behold. Mountain of gold, secrets untold, Treasures buried deep that no one knows. Mighty he stands, he won’t fall to any man. But, the lady claimed the riches of his soul. A mountain feel no fear, but the end is coming near. These thoughts bring back the darkness and the cold. The trail leads deep within, the lady finds the end. The treasures buried deep within his soul. Rugged and rough, rowdy and tough, Reserved, conditioned and controlled. She’s the vein that fills it all, he’s a mountain, oh, so tall. He’s the man with a mountain full of gold. Mountain of gold, secrets untold. Treasures buried deep that no one knows Mighty he stands, he won’t fall to any man. But, the lady is forever in his soul. Together, they’ll lay…..within his gold.
