Slipping Away
A young boy
Not yet thirteen
Follow his father down dusty streets.
And watching
From a window
His mother finds hope as she sees him grow.
And time slips away
But she holds fast
To each passing day
Because they don’t last
Prophesies now are being fulfilled
Not coincidence but God’s Holy Will
Oh he’s slipping away
He’s slipping away
Verse 2
The years pass.
Now he's thirty
And suddenly he
Must chase his dreams.
He tells her
She has his love
But he must answer
The call from above.
Chorus 2
He walks thru the door
With a hug and a kiss.
She never thought
He would leave her like this.
Off with his friends
He is on his way.
Now all she can do
for her son is pray.
Bridge
And all of the memories come back
Flooding her mind.
She has to let him go.
He hasn't much time.
Verse 3
As he works
The world sees
Him practicing
Good and mighty deeds.
But then rumors
Circle ‘round
And her very world
Comes crashing down.
Chorus3
Collapsed on her knees
She is covered with tears.
The time since he left
Has been only three years.
He’s raised on a cross
Naked, in pain.
She’s helpless. He's dying.
It can't end this way.
Chorus 4
And time slips away
But she holds fast
To each passing day
Because they don't last.
Prophesies now are being fulfilled.
Is this coincidence .
Or God's Holy will.
Repeat chorus 4
