Heidi Wolfson is a Philadelphia singer-songwriter. In her fourth decade of making music, Heidi is taking a slightly softer approach... but her music remains vocally interesting and the lyrics are definitely worth checking out. If you like Patti Smith, you will probably like Heidi. Have fun and thanks for listening.

Story behind the song
This song was written in 1986, the year I got sober. The song was written just before I got sober. I don't think there was an actually "Cathy". Just this internal knowledge that if there was a special person out there for me, I didn't have the wherewithal to recognize him/her or maintain the relationship.
Lyrics
Cathy Written in 1986- Recorded on Mating Calls in 1995 (Em- alternately adding c note (3rd fret) to 5th string) Cathy sits on her hands a while And watches the rain fall Cathy waits for me to smile Sometimes I don't at all C G D And I've been everything to her And I've been nothing C G D I've given all I have to give And taken it back again Em riff Cathy closes the door behind her And I watch her go Cathy steps out into the rain On the street below C G D And I've been everything to her And I've been nothing C G D I've taken away all her pain And put it back again C G D (Etc.) Is there someone out there in the rain That I can believe in Is that someone coming through my door Or is that somebody leaving I can waste, I can waste plenty more time Just looking for someone with Cathy's mind Cathy doesn't come here anymore Cathy doesn't come here anymore And I've been everything to her And I've been nothing I've taken away all her pain And put it back again Is there someone out there in the rain That I can believe in Is that someone coming through my door Or is that somebody leaving I can waste, I can waste plenty more time Just looking for someone with Cathy's mind
