Mike Mitchell (Lead Vocalist, Guitarist) Steve Leighton (No longer w/ band: Lead Guitarist) Special Mention: Brett Talley (Percussion, Lead Guitar, Effects.
Just Six Spaces was formed in the Summer of 2004, after friends and fellow musicians Mike Mitchell and Steve Leighton defected from their former band "Nova", and decided to form an open collaboration. The band then cut a four song demo at "Hand in Hand" studios, which was produced by their good friend and mentor, Brett Talley. After touring the bar and coffee shop scene for about a year, Mike and Steve both went to college, which was unbeknownst to them, the downfall of the band. Mike Mitchell has continued to play, and now goes by his given name. He has been writing new material for over a year, and hopes to re-enter the studio soon to record some new music. Story behind the song
This is a song about growing up, but realizing that you're not growing out of everything you grew up in. I'm growing up, and this puts life into perspective for me.
Lyrics
Look into the sun, Watch your dreams float away, With the ages. And stand still, Listen to what they say, Measure your worth in days. And the stream of your life, Is starting to wane, As the wreathe you represent, Takes the pain. And all you've dreamed of being, Is becoming real. And your floating down with them, As they come back to you, You realize, you've been with them all the time. And you're more beautiful now then, I've ever known because, You've found yourself, And I've found you. Look into these eyes, Think about the scars behind them, I lived before you. I saw your life, Driftin away, With the sands of time. Listen to me speak now, What will you take away from this? I just hope you're living well years from now, Is this life perfect? And I'll watch you grow now, Guess what I've taken from this, A whole life of living, And a love worth giving. These endless plains, Of sublime ecstacy, They disappear as fast, As they appeared to me.
