KaBERTRAM!!! ...it's all about the music.
Welcome to KaBertram!!! - an explosion of sound, motion, entertainment, and talented people from all around the world, all making music together. And if KaBertram! was a hurricane, then Ray Bertram would be the eye at the center of the storm. Ray, a life-long "compulsive writer," started writing at a very age and he's never stopped. When Ray turned his writing in the direction of lyrics in 2008, things really started hopping. Working together with good friend and partner, musician/song-writer/producer and creative genius John Surbaugh, Ray co-founded BCC Global: The Back Country Connection, which made it possible for him to take his writing and cover the world with it. Ray has now seen his writing produced into songs in the United States (Tennessee, California, Ohio, North Caroline, Georgia), Sweden, The Netherlands, South Africa, England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and beyond. In 2010, Ray and another one of his frequent partners, Swedish singer/musician/song-writer/producer Anders Larson, were signed by the prominent Swedish promotional house, Hit Works, and in the time since numerous of their songs have been placed under contract and aggressively marketed all around the world. And, to date, Ray's writing has been produced into songs covering many genres, including Pop, Euro-Pop, Folk-Rock, Country, Rock-a-billy, Adult Contemporary, Jass/Swwing, Rap, and more. Ray continues to write and to continually direct his creative energies onward and upward, always striving to reach higher and to move in new directions. Story behind the song
My grandfather to my mother's side was named "Clyde," so it was a name that I heard a lot of as I grew up in Kentucky. And every time I heard that name I couldn't help but think that there was a fun song somewhere behind it. I finally wrote My Name Is Clyde back in May of 2008 as a strictly humorous, quasi-satirical lyric. I had a real severe cold at the time and was on strong cold medicine - which probably explains a lot of it lol Everybody enjoyed it - especially the beautiful Mrs. Bertram - but nobody wanted to take a shot at producing it. So, as frequently happens, I allowed it to sit still and slowly slip away, keeping it in the back of my mind knowing that someday somebody somewhere might take a liking to it and want to pursue it as a project. Sure enough, on a whim, in January of 2010 I gave My Name Is Clyde a bump and my good friend/frequent creative partner German songwriter/producer Robert Baitinger saw it. Robert thought that Clyde was a hilarious thematic vehicle and he took an instant liking to it. He asked if he could take a swing at producing Clyde and I quickly agreed, very happy to see it going somewhere at last. Robert says that he virtually “heard” the chorus of the song the first time that he laid eyes the lyrics. He immediately switched on his keyboards and recorded the chorus melody. A few days later he finished the rest of the song…though he had to admit he had a hard time getting the 12-line monster verses that I had written to work lol Robert says that Clyde was an incredibly fun song to do - he had trouble recording the lead vocals simply because he had to laugh every time he sang “Hello sweet thing…” Both Robert and I want to thank our good friend songwriter/singer Cathy Wilson and Robert’s daughter Maxine for making guest vocal appearances in the production. Robert, Cathy, and Maxine all three sing the background vocals together. Cathy sang them one octave lower and Maxine complained that she couldn’t sing high enough - but Robert, Cathy, and I all think that she did a great job…Robert says that he had to pinch a part of his body in order to sing in falsetto with her lol And just for the record, Robert whats to make it known and clear that his name is Robert - NOT Clyde :-)
