Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
I love sitting on our front porch swing - I frequently boast that it's the best seat in the house. And our front porch is covered to where you can’t really see the sky overhead, but we have the prettiest trees all around us and I just love to gaze at them…or watch the dirt road…or the birds and other animals…or the children playing…as I slowly rock and swing back and forth. I’ll go out and sit and work a lyric on my Palm Pilot, sit and read, sit and look, sit and think, or just sit…and I love it whenever the beautiful Mrs. Bertram looks out the window, sees me sitting there, and comes and sits by me on the porch swing - she really is the best company. I guess this lyric is really straight from my days on a couple of different levels that way, because I was sitting on the porch swing and staring at the trees when those two lines came to me and I pretty much built the entire lyric around it. I was very happy when my good friend Tennessee singer/songwriter/musician/producer Glenn Spayth picked it up. With a little bit of work, Glenn produced the exact same song around it that I had been feeling in my head as I tossed the lines together...as I sat out there on the porch swing.
Lyrics
Just Sittin’ On The Swing Verse 1: The sun is goin’ down The day is gettin’ on Just like it seems to do Ever since you been gone It sure is quiet here And I’m sittin’ on the swing Out here on our front porch Remembrin’ ev’rything Chorus: And I’m just sittin’ on the swing Out here on the front porch Starin’ at the trees An' rockin’ back an’ forth I still miss you And I’d do anything To have you back here with me Just sittin’ on the swing Verse 2: I remember our first date So many years ago The day we go married An’ watchin’ our kids grow You always seemed so happy You loved to laugh n’ sing And I loved it when you sat With me on this porch swing Chorus: And I’m just sittin’ on the swing Out here on the front porch Starin’ at the trees An' rockin’ back an’ forth I still miss you And I’d do anything To have you back here with me Just sittin’ on the swing Verse 3: The flowers you planted Make me feel less alone The look so pretty Out there on your headstone Chorus: And I’m just sittin’ on the swing Out here on the front porch Starin’ at the trees An' rockin’ back an’ forth I still miss you And I’d do anything To have you back here with me Just sittin’ on the swing (c) 2008 W.
