Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
As most people who have been following my music work will know, I live on top of an Arkansas mountain with my family. One day in the Spring of 2008, I was driving to work early one morning when my old car abruptly died about one-fourth of the way down the mountain…not the best time for a fellow’s ride to cut out on him lol So, I did what I could and coasted the rest of the way down the mountain, handling the winding, twisting road with no power steering or brakes. When my car finally reached the bottom, I cut it over onto the shoulder of the road as it rolled to a stop. And try as hard as hard as I might, I couldn’t get the thing to start back up - it was a dead stick….so I called my wife’s uncle back up at the top of the mountain to come down with his pick-up truck to help me tow the car the rest of the way in to town (some 30 miles). He quickly agreed, but he was in the middle of some work on his farm and it would be a little while before he could make it down to help me. With nothing better to do, I sat up on the hood of my car, looked up at the pretty morning sky, watched the occasional car and tractor drive by, got out my trusty Palm Pilot, and wrote the lyric that would become this song. I shared it with my good friend California singer/musician/producer Donovan Plant…and Donovan quickly decided that he’d like to make a go of producing it. Over the course of the production, our good friend German-based songwriter/producer Robert Baitinger became involved with the song on multiple levels as we all three worked together toward the song that would become “No Worries.” In the end, I was able to get my old car fixed and running again…but about a year later the engine blew a cylinder and that was the end of that lol The last time that I ever sat behind the wheel of “Puff The Tragic Wagon” was the day that the salvage yard man drove up to the mountain to pick it up…I had to keep the front wheels of the car straight so that he could hoist it up onto his flatbed truck…it was kind of a sad day. The song went on to be produced, however, and here it is today…we hope that you like it.
Lyrics
No Worries Verse 1: I’m sittin’ here on the road Hopin’ to catch a ride Ain’t got no place to go My old car just died The sky’s such a pretty blue White clouds rolling by It’s the perfect view For me, myself, and I Pre-Chorus: I guess I could go and get up tight But in the end things work out right Chorus: No worries…no, none for me No worries…I’m happy I’ll sit back and let others frown ...Run themselves into the ground Me, I’ll just take it day by day Go with the flow…find my way No issues…no hurries No problems…no worries Verse 2: I’m walkin’ on down the road Cars are passin’ me by I watch them come and go ...Hold my thumb up high It’s such a pretty day And it’s a long way to town I’ll get there okay Before the sun goes down Pre-Chorus: I guess I could go and get up tight But in the end things work out right Chorus: No worries…no, none for me No worries…I’m happy I’ll sit back and let others frown ...Run themselves into the ground Me, I’ll just take it day by day Go with the flow…find my way No issues…no hurries No problems… Bridge: I’m finally making it into town Moon’s coming up…sun’s going down All of my troubles are behind me There’s nothing ahead to remind me Chorus: No worries…no, none for me No worries…I’m happy I’ll sit back and let others frown ...Run themselves into the ground Me, I’ll just take it day by day Go with the flow…find my way No issues…no hurries No problems… Lyrics: Ray Bertram, Donovan Plant Vocals: Donovan Plant Instrumentals: Donovan Plant, Robert Baitinger Production: Donovan Plant, Robert Baitinger “No Worries” (c) 2009 W.
