Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
Here’s the background behind this piece - My wife was working one night and I was having to cook my own supper since she wasn’t home - and I was also talking to a friend from work on FaceBook at the same time. My friend asked me what I was cooking for supper, to which I replied “A hot dog and a can of beans.” Well, my friend bet me that I couldn’t write a song about it…so I made it a love song just out of spite lol I had the lyric done that evening and my good friend German songwriter/producer Robert Baitinger (Germany) picked it up shortly there-after...and dang if he didn't go and madk a real fun song out of it! And from here the story takes an interesting twist…not only was this Robert’s first-time-ever Country genre-oriented production, but it also turned out to be the quickest song that he and I have ever produced together. He picked up the lyrics on a Monday and he shared the first rough draft the very next day. The whole song was done by Thursday of that same week. And while Robert and I always have fun whenever we work together, I think that we had the best out-right good time ever doing this piece lol As far as the song itself goes - it’s a pretty fit description of mine and the beautiful Mrs. Bertram’s life up here on the mountain…simple, a bit on the poor side, but very happy and enjoyable. Hotdog! Who can ask for any more?
Lyrics
Hot Dog! Verse 1: A pack of hot dogs A can of beans It’s not the meal Of my dreams But it’s the best That we can do So I’ll share it all With you Chorus: Hotdog! Yeah, that’s right The perfect meal For you and me tonight It’s just you…and just me We’re takin’ it slow And easy We’re livin’ high on the hog Life is good for you and me… Hotdog! Verse 2: Some paper plates And Dixie cups Some candle light And just us A pretty girl A little kiss It don’t get better Than this Chorus: Hotdog! Yeah, that’s right The perfect meal For you and me tonight It’s just you…and just me We’re takin’ it slow And easy We’re livin’ high on the hog Life is good for you and me… Hotdog! Bridge: And later on when supper’s done We can have just a little fun… Chorus: Hotdog! Yeah, that’s right The perfect meal For you and me tonight It’s just you…and just me We’re takin’ it slow And easy We’re livin’ high on the hog Life is good for you and me… Hotdog!
