This song has a peaceful feel to it, which is contradictory to it's message.
progressive alternative rock acoustic solo music
This is me - my life in the form of music. Although my favorite type of music is progressive rock, I also liking writing solo acoustic songs, and have made some attempts at creating a few techno/industrial instrumental songs.
Story behind the song
Well, the idea came to me during a conversation with a friend about how the discrimination occurring today against homosexuals parallels the discrimination blacks experienced during the 1960's, etc. Thought it's a message that needs to be shared.
Lyrics
Street fights are breaking out in my head again,
(And I wonder)
What will it take to bring them all back to when,
(When will we see?)
We discriminated against race and the color of one’s skin,
Was reason to hate and throw them back, deny them equal rights.
It’s all I can do,
To hold back from crying,
Because you say you love me, too,
But I can see the hate in your heart,
Because you’re denying…
Everything that I am,
Since it says in a book I’m going to hell,
What does that book know about me?
And why not think for yourself?
I know God,
I know peace,
And I’m sure you’ll remember to,
To stamp your hate with God’s approval.
And circling round the bend,
(To a familiar point)
Has put us here, without a notion,
(Of how ignorant)
We are acting like our predecessors did, trying to oppress,
It’s time to take control of our lives, our hearts, our minds.
And I wonder,
When will we see?
