KaBERTRAM!!! ...it's all about the music.
Welcome to KaBertram!!! - an explosion of sound, motion, entertainment, and talented people from all around the world, all making music together. And if KaBertram! was a hurricane, then Ray Bertram would be the eye at the center of the storm. Ray, a life-long "compulsive writer," started writing at a very age and he's never stopped. When Ray turned his writing in the direction of lyrics in 2008, things really started hopping. Working together with good friend and partner, musician/song-writer/producer and creative genius John Surbaugh, Ray co-founded BCC Global: The Back Country Connection, which made it possible for him to take his writing and cover the world with it. Ray has now seen his writing produced into songs in the United States (Tennessee, California, Ohio, North Caroline, Georgia), Sweden, The Netherlands, South Africa, England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and beyond. In 2010, Ray and another one of his frequent partners, Swedish singer/musician/song-writer/producer Anders Larson, were signed by the prominent Swedish promotional house, Hit Works, and in the time since numerous of their songs have been placed under contract and aggressively marketed all around the world. And, to date, Ray's writing has been produced into songs covering many genres, including Pop, Euro-Pop, Folk-Rock, Country, Rock-a-billy, Adult Contemporary, Jass/Swwing, Rap, and more. Ray continues to write and to continually direct his creative energies onward and upward, always striving to reach higher and to move in new directions. Story behind the song
Special, special thanks to my good friend musician/producer/singer/songwriter Robert Baitinger (Germany) for producing this song….I was very happy when he picked up these lyrics to work with. This piece has a very special background behind it. My father passed away in the late 70’s and I was only eleven-years-old at the time…still at that stage where every boy thinks his dad’s some kind of super hero - so that’s the way that my father’s always stayed in my mind, I guess…and this lyric takes that and makes a song out of it. As a song, it’s a look back at how we remember our fathers from our childhood…it’s a look around us right now with an eye toward how our own children are looking at us…and it’s a look ahead with the knowledge that our decisions and actions today work toward building the people our children become tomorrow. In just the space of eleven brief years, my father left me a very high example to follow that way and I’ve spent my entire life doing my best to live up to it…sometimes I do a lot better than others lol. I do mean every word of this song, though, and it really is all true…which makes it all the more sweet to me.
Lyrics
The Son Of Superman Verse 1: I grew up in his shadow Constantly amazed He was always my hero In so many ways Faster than a locomotive Stronger than a gun He was the world’s greatest father And I was his son Chorus: I’m the son of Superman Yeah, he was my dad He was the best father Any boy could have Today I leap tall buildings ...Do stuff that no one can But it’s only because I’m the son of Superman Verse 2: How he did his job ...And he loved his wife ...He took care of his children ...How he lived his life Today when I look back I wonder if he knew He was teaching me to Be bullet proof Chorus: I’m the son of Superman Yeah, he was my dad He was the best father Any boy could have Today I leap tall buildings ...Do stuff that no one can But it’s only because I’m the son of Superman ? Bridge: These days I’m so much older And my father’s gone But as long as my heart beats Superman lives on Chorus: I’m the son of Superman Yeah, he was my dad He was the best father Any boy could have Today I leap tall buildings ...Do stuff that no one can But it’s only because I’m the son of Superman Outro: I don’t always succeed But I do what I can ...I’m the son of Superman ‘Cause I’m a living legacy… ...I’m the son of Superman ‘Cause I’m a living legacy… ...I’m the son of Superman ...
